What if we defined the economic benefits of a society that had employers and governments offering better supports for caregivers? As organizations can often fail to recognize how caregiving impacts their employees, we have an opportunity for them to recognize the economic benefits of giving them more support. AARP did the math.
In a recent analysis, AARP determined the economy could retain 10.7 million jobs in 2030 just by providing working family caregivers more support. And because they were earning income, these working family caregivers could then spend an additional 7 percent by 2030 on products and services. This conversation will explore how we can better integrate the reality of employees’ caregiving responsibilities into the landscape of work and will present practical solutions that support employees who are parenting, caring for parents, or both. It will also explore the significant economic opportunities of filling the growing demand for senior care nationwide.
